Congratulations to Susan Mendoza Friedman for being selected as the recipient of the MTA Creative Leadership in Human and Civil Rights Award for 2011! Below is an excerpt from Susan’s notification letter outlining why she received this prestigious award.
The Massachusetts Teachers Association has presented annual civil rights awards since 1983 in recognition of organizations and individuals who have advocated for issues that are of importance to human and civil rights. Your nomination for this award was submitted by Jill Snook. The Committee members are impressed by your remarkably successful fundraising efforts to support cancer research and your creative use of performance to raise awareness and provide community assistance for those living with cancer. Members of the Committee are proud to honor your dedication, motivation and selflessness in building a community to help individuals who need support. The award will be presented at the Human and Civil Rights Awards Banquet on Friday evening, May 13, 2011. The banquet will be held at the Sheraton Boston Hotel and Towers, Republic Ballroom, 2nd Floor, in Boston, MA. The reception will begin at 7:00 PM and the awards dinner at 7:30 PM. Congratulations Susan! Keep dancing until a cure is found! |

RACHEL (far right in photo) is now dancing with Stiletto Entertainment on Holland America Cruise Line's MS Zaandam.
She will be dancing her way around Alaska, Hawaii, and Mexico for the next 9 months! Read the description of what Rachel

Sept 20-27 & Oct. 13-20: We are so excited to announce that Dance Designs student, Laine Delaney and Co., are holding a fund raiser @ DD: "Teal Toes Sept. 20-27 and Pink Piggies Oct. 13-20" to raise awareness and funds for ovarian & breast cancer, respectfully. Her staff will be painting toes (or fingers) during studio time for donations to Dancing For A Cure. Please come and have your nails done! Supplies will be donated by By Designs, Hyannis and others.
